Short Bio of D. Manjunath

Professor D. Manjunath received his BE from Mysore University, MS from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst, Troy NY in 1986, 1989 and 1993 respectively. He has worked in the Corporate R & D center of General Electric in Scehenctady NY during the summer of 1990. He was a Visiting Faculty in the Computer and Information Sciences Dept of the University of Delaware and a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Computer Science Dept of the University of Toronto. He was on the Electrical Engineering faculty of the Indian Inst of Technology, Kanpur during December 1994 - July 1998. He has been with the Dept of Electrical Engineering of IIT, Bombay since July 1998.



Short Bio of Srikanth B. Iyer

For nearly 20 years, Srikanth has been an Information Technology Entrepreneur. Srikanth is currently the COO of Pearson education services (P) ltd, formerly known as edurite technologies, a leading education services company he co-founded, working in the school domain in India. He brings Sales, operations and strategic depth to Pearson. He has been mainly responsible for edurite/Pearson to achieve leadership position in India in the K12 e-learning space. More than 3,000 private schools in India use their flagship product, 'Digitally' and so do more than 8,000 Govt schools.

Srikanth started his career with Wipro in 1993 in the SPD team where he picked up the basic grounding but left soon enough to chase his entrepreneurial instincts. Srikanth holds a Post Graduate Diploma is Software Engineering from ICA/Harvard University (DCE) and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science Engineering from Bangalore University, India.


Short Bio of Gautam Shroff

Dr. Gautam Shroff Vice President & Chief Scientist, Tata Consultancy Services Head, TCS Technology Innovation Lab - Delhi Member, TCS Corporate Technology Council Dr. Shroff heads TCS Innovation Lab in Delhi that conducts applied research in a variety of areas including information fusion, web intelligence, business analytics, text mining, computer vision, multimedia, graphics and virtual reality. Prior to joining TCS in 1998, Dr. Shroff had been on the faculty of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA and thereafter of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He has also held visiting positions at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA, and at Argonne National Labs in Chicago. In 1994 he was conferred the "Young Scientist Award" from the Department of Atomic Energy.

Dr. Shroff has published over 30 research papers in the areas of computational mathematics, parallel computing, distributed systems, software architecture, software engineering, and information fusion. He has also written a book "Enterprise Cloud Computing" published by Cambridge University Press in 2010. Dr. Shroff graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, in 1985 and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, USA, in 1990.


Short Bio of Rohit Kumar

Rohit Kumar joined as MD - South Asia, Health Science Division, Reed Elsevier India Pvt. Ltd. in July 2009. Armed with his degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Rohit started his career with Accenture and worked on IT projects in India and Turkey. After 3 years, he decided to pursue his MBA with Wharton & thereafter, he continued his consulting career with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Chicago. The prospects of working on new technologies prompted Rohit to join Oracle in the Silicon Valley where he worked on strategy, product development and product marketing. He is the Secretary of Association of Publishers of India (API) and member of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Publishing Committee. He is also the founder and President of Wharton Club of Delhi.

Following a 9 year stint in the US, Wipro presented Rohit with the opportunity to relocate back to India. At Wipro, he was given the onerous task of building the energy and utilities vertical internationally with customers mainly in the US & Europe. Apart from growing this sales vertical organically, notably from winning big deals such as Shell, Rohit was also instrumental in leading Wipro's first overseas acquisition of American Management System's (AMS) Global Energy Practice, as well as the integration of this newly acquired division into Wipro. This milestone achievement has paved the way for future acquisitions for Wipro.

With this successful track record, Rohit joined Microsoft India as country head of the Public Sector vertical where his key area of focus was on building the business through deepening key relationships with various government bodies, including the healthcare department. In the course of his work, he also established strong relationships with major healthcare players in the private hospital market. Prior to joining Elsevier, Rohit was with Educomp Solutions where he was driving a new line of business in the Higher Education space which focuses on developing new physical institutions as well as building more online content, a business he built through a joint venture with Raffles Education Corporation (Singapore).
