
PhD Forum
          
          COMSNETS 2010 is organizing a PhD Forum, which will provide a platform for  doctoral students from academic institutions to talk about their dissertation  work. A panel of distinguished researchers from academia and industry will  preside over the forum and will provide feedback and suggestions to the  students. This forum will also help students to network with researchers and  practitioners from academia and industry. This forum is designed for advanced  doctoral students who have completed all required qualifying exams and have a  well-defined dissertation topic that they plan to pursue. Eligible students  must be at least a semester away from graduation from the date of the forum.
  
          Format:
          COMSNETS 2010 PhD Forum will be a half-day event and will host short student  presentations, followed by Q&A and a concluding discussion led by the  presiding panel. Selected students will be expected to present their research  proposal, briefly discuss prior work and outline a plan for conducting their  research work including any intermediate results obtained.
  
          Submission: 
        Submissions to PhD Forum from eligible students must include:
- A summary of the student's dissertation research (2-3 pages) that includes motivation, related work, initial results and proposed work. A brief discussion on why this research is important and the challenges expected should be included.
- A brief Curriculum Vitae of the doctoral student (limited to 1 page) describing the applicants educational / professional background and research.
- An email recommendation from the faculty advisor of the doctoral student including the expected completion date of student’s dissertation.

- Submission Deadline: November 15, 2009
- Notification Deadline: December 1, 2009
- Camera-ready: December 15, 2009
- Forum Date: January xx, 2010
