Call for Workshop Proposals

COMSNETS 2026 invites proposals for one-day workshops to be held on either the first (January 6,2026) or the last (January 10, 2026) of the conference. These workshops aim to foster thought-provoking discussions and active community engagement in specialized areas of communication systems and networks.
COMSNETS has a strong tradition of hosting recurring workshops.

COMSNETS has a strong tradition of hosting recurring workshops. The following five workshops from 2025 have been confirmed for COMSNETS 2026.

• Cyber Security and Privacy Workshop (CSP)
• Internet Intelligence and Governance Workshop (IIGW)
• Machine Intelligence in Networked Data and Systems (MINDS)
• Standards-driven Research (SDR)
• Systems for the Future of AI/ML (SysAI)

To reach the target of eight workshops in 2026, the committee will select three additional workshops through this open call. Proposers must avoid overlapping with the topics of the recurring workshops. Each proposal should explain how the workshop differs from existing ones and describe how the organizers will attract international participation to increase the visibility and impact of COMSNETS.

The committee plans to continue the Advances in Autonomous Driving and Vehicular Networks (ADVnet) workshop in 2026 under new leadership and will select one proposal in this area. COMSNETS 2026 strongly encourages proposals on this topic.

Proposers may choose from the following list of suggested topics or introduce a new, relevant area aligned with the scope of COMSNETS:

• Control, Infrastructure, Connectivity, and Communications for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (one proposal will be selected in this area).
• Green Communications and Energy-Harvesting Networks
• Next Gen wireless systems (WiFi 7, 6G and beyond)
• Virtualized infrastructure systems and architectures
• Software-defined radio and software-defined networking
• Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things
• Edge and Fog Computing or other Networking Architectures
• High bandwidth and latency-aware real-time applications
• mmWave / THz Ultra High-Frequency Communication
• System-on-Chip (SoC) Architectures for AI, Networking, Secure Communication

Each workshop proposal must include:

1. Workshop title and acronym
2. Name, affiliation, and a short bio (up to 250 words) for each of the workshop Co-chairs. Each workshop may have up to four Co-chairs specialized in the domain
3. Workshop description that briefly addresses:
   • The key technical issues the workshop will cover.
   • Why the workshop will interest the COMSNETS community.
   • Tentative topics for the call for papers.
   • The target research communities or groups.
   • The planned format (e.g., invited talks, contributed papers, panel discussions, etc.).
   • A clear strategy to encourage interactive and engaging discussions throughout the workshop.
4. History of the workshop (if applicable), including:
   • Number of paper submissions and acceptances in past editions
   • Number of attendees: If the workshop is new, estimate the expected number of submissions, acceptances, and attendees.
5. Publicity plan describing how the organizers will promote the workshop and attract submissions
6. Tentative list of technical program committee members and speakers: If the proposal includes a panel discussion, specify the panel topic and a tentative list of panelists.
7. List of related or comparable workshops or conferences (if known) that address similar topics

Please note the roles and responsibilities of workshop co-chairs:

• Prepare and publish the call for papers for the workshop.Note: As per COMSNETS policy, workshop co-chairs may only submit invited papers to the workshop they are organizing. They can submit papers to all other workshops and the main conference. The invited papers will be reviewed by a TPC set up by the Overall Workshop Chairs.
• Invite authors, keynote speakers, and panelists to participate in the workshop.
• Form the Technical Program Committee (TPC) for the workshop. To ensure diversity and broad representation, include TPC members from different regions around the world.
• Solicit sponsors for the workshop (optional). Sponsorship can support paper awards, travel grants, or other workshop activities.
• Coordinate with the COMSNETS TPC chairs and general chairs regarding workshop content and invited speakers.
• Select best paper awards, if applicable.
