As Industry 4.0 revolutionizes the industrial landscape with interconnected systems, automation, and data-driven insights, advanced technologies become vital in addressing the pressing issues of security, privacy, and operational efficiency. This workshop aims to explore the effective deployment of innovative technologies such as machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning, edge computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and blockchain to enhance the security and efficiency of Industry 4.0 environments. By analyzing real-world applications, emerging trends, and best practices, we seek to unveil the transformative power of these technologies in shaping future industrial ecosystems.

The workshop calls for submissions on a diverse array of topics integral to the advancement of Industry 4.0. We welcome contributions that delve into ML and AI-driven security solutions, edge computing frameworks, blockchain implementations, and more. The workshop will highlight the synergy between different technologies, emphasizing their collective impact on the evolution of industrial systems. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to push the frontiers of innovation and drive significant progress in Industry 4.0.
We encourage original and high-quality submissions related to any of the following topics (but not limited to):

Submission Guidelines

  • The SAMAT 4.0 invites submission of original work not previously published or under review at another conference or journal.
  • Submissions (including title, author list, abstract, all figures, tables, references and appendix) should not exceed 6 pages.
  • Reviews will be double-blind: authors name and affiliation should not be included in the submission.
  • Submissions must follow the formatting guidelines as given on IEEE Website, and those that do not meet the size and formatting requirements will not be reviewed.
  • All papers must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and submitted through the SAMAT Workshop submission site on EDAS.
  • All workshop papers will appear in conference proceedings and be submitted to IEEE Xplore and other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

Prof. Siba K. Udgata is a distinguished researcher and academician addressing societal challenges through innovative algorithms for wireless sensor networks and IoT applications. With numerous funded projects and impactful publications in top journals and conferences, his work spans Wi-Fi sensing, machine learning for healthcare, and environmental monitoring. Prof. Udgata has contributed to technology innovation through patents and authored books like Internet of Things and Sensor Networks for COVID-19 (Springer, 2021). He leads WiSeComLab at the University of Hyderabad, focusing on wireless communication and IoT, while teaching advanced courses. A Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences, he has guided successful PhDs and served on prestigious national committees.

Supratik Mukhopadhyay is full Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) at the Center for Computation and Technology and a Data Science Fellow at the Office of Data and Strategic Analytics. Prof. Mukhopadhyay led the DeepDrug team (DeepDrug(lsu.edu)) for automated drug discovery using Artificial Intelligence to the semifinals of AI XPRIZE (among 147 teams worldwide), the world’s top competition for using AI for solving moonshot challenges (DeepDrug| AI XPRIZE). Combination therapy discovered by the DeepDrug Artificial Intelligence Platform for COVID-19 underwent human studies at the Riverside University Health System, California (RiversideUniversity Health System Medical Center, Skymount Medical Begin U.S. ClinicalTrial for COVID-19 Oral Therapeutics Discovered Using Artificial Intelligence |County of Riverside (rivco.org)). Apart from Drug Discovery, Prof. Mukhopadhyay has worked on AI for agriculture, education, port and supply chain security, satellite image understanding, video and image analytics, design of intelligent buildings and transportation systems, wildfire prediction and detection, conservation of endangered species, intelligent cyber-physical-human systems, etc. His DeepSat framework for satellite imagery understanding formed the basis of NASA Earth Exchange (NEX) (see DeepSAT: A Deep Learning Approach to Tree-Cover Delineation in 1-m NAIP Imagery for the Continental United States - NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS)). In the last 15 years, Prof. Mukhopadhyay has received more than $9 million in research grants. His research has been funded by the NSF, DARPA, ARO, ONR, NGA, NASA, DOE, USDOT, NRL, USDA, nonprofit foundations, state agencies, and private industry. Prof. Mukhopadhyay has published around 135 refereed publications in reputed journals and conferences. He has been awarded 4 US Patents and has 8 US patents pending. He has received numerous awards for his research. He cofounded a startup Ailectric for commercializing his research on sound, video, and image analytics (Ailectric | Home | Artificial Intelligence | Deep Learning). He serves as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence and Remote Sensing letters and has served in the program committees of AAAI.
